This recipe originates from the mid-70’s from a small café in the middle of Saga city. Add steamed rice to a plate, add grilled meat of some kind, add salad and finish with a squeeze of mayonnaise. Simple! The name comes from that fact that neighboring Nagasaki created the ‘Turkish rice’ so Saga would name this ‘Sicilian rice’…however it is believed that this was originally intended to be called ‘Syrian rice’. The mystery continues to baffle local café owners.
